Cobalt Data Centers, a data center developer and colocation operator, has announced that its colocation facility in northwest Las Vegas has been approved by the State of Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) to host odds, bets and other regulated gaming applications for gaming licensees at its Cheyenne Data Center in Las Vegas.

Las Vegas-based Cobalt Data Centers has been designated by state gaming regulators as the registered holding center for the state’s casino industry. The approvals by the Nevada Gaming Commission and Gaming Control Board allows casinos to store and secure the technology and data off-site at Cobalt’s data center.

In a modest industrial park some 20 minutes from the Strip sits Cobalt Data Centers. A well-guarded facility in which some of the largest casino companies locate the computing gear that runs their non-gaming reward programs.

Before coming to Las Vegas, Jeff Brown spent more than 20 years in the technology industry with some of the giants of the colocation business, such as Equinix. Now serving as president of Cobalt Data Centers, a server hub near Summerlin, he’s among the key contributors to a new age in the Valley’s tech sector.
