Cobalt’s flagship datacenter, Cobalt Cheyenne I & II, is located in Northwest Las Vegas and was commissioned for service in early 2013.  It features the complete Colo 2.0 vision to combine engineering excellence with practical, people-oriented operation.  Cobalt Cheyenne is certified for operation under SSAE-16 SOC 1/SOC2 Type II, HIPAA and PCI-DSS V.2 Section 9 and 12 standards.  In addition, Cobalt Cheyenne maintains a Hosting Registration with the State of Nevada Gaming Control Board.

Cobalt Cheyenne is staffed and accessible 24/7/365.  Security guards are always on duty and physical access is monitored and managed by several layers of multi-factor authentication, video surveillance and building management systems.  Integrated smoke detection and fire suppression systems utilize state-of-the-art VESDA and pre-action, dual-interlock, dry pipe controls.

Both phases of Cobalt Cheyenne were designed and built to meet all criteria set forth by the Uptime Institute for Tier III multi-tenant datacenters.  Accordingly, all critical infrastructure is redundant and concurrently maintainable.  Critical power is delivered to each cabinet via diverse, high-capacity STARLINE Track Busways that terminate on Server Technology Smart CDUs.  The integrated cooling system features individually ducted Chatsworth cabinets and Liebert DX CRAC units with airside economizers in an N+2 configuration.  Among other benefits, these Colo 2.0 design decisions:

  • Shrink provisioning time to just a few hours
  • Feed critical cabinet-level data to our building management and customer portal platforms
  • Provide a consistent, comfortable temperature throughout the entire datacenter

Las Vegas has become a rich telecommunications hub in recent years.  Cobalt Cheyenne is connected via diverse entries to all of the mainstream carriers servicing Southern Nevada, including:

  • CenturyLink
  • XO
  • Cox Business
  • Telepacific
  • Hurricane Electric
  • Cogent
  • Zayo
  • Level3 (twtelecom)

Cobalt Cheyenne Customers can also take advantage of managed-BGP Internet connections currently featuring routing tables from five ISPs and a variety of fixed wireless connectivity options throughout the Las Vegas valley.
